Story
★★★★★
"Anecdotal"
An unabashed graphic patchwork, the game strings together heterogeneous micro-styles: crude pixels, photos, pencil drawings, all in a joyful chaos. This visual anarchy, funny and unpredictable, makes every micro-game a surprise. This punk, do-it-yourself spirit remains one of Nintendo's most singular signatures.
Gameplay
"Masterful"
Reacting in a split second to absurd microgames that fly by at breakneck speed delivers an immediate, hilarious thrill. The simplicity of a single control hides a fearsome test of reflexes and adaptation. Zany, accessible and furiously paced, the founding concept hasn't aged a day and still hits the mark.
Fun
"From the very first seconds"
Hundreds of micro-games lasting mere seconds, fired off at a frantic pace in an avalanche of absurd ideas: you can't guess what's coming, and that's the whole point. The crazy concept and the wry humour grab you from the very first second. Fresh, unpredictable and fiercely addictive, this first WarioWare invented a genre all by itself.
Addictiveness
"Obsessive"
Reacting in a split second to hundreds of absurd micro-games chains surprises and bursts of laughter at a frantic pace that gives no respite. Surviving a salvo unlocks new challenges and a score to smash, instantly restarting the game. Each trial lasts a tiny moment and the solo wraps up fast, but this inventive madness stays irresistibly addictive.

Collector interest
European PAL edition of the first WarioWare, distributed by Nintendo Europe in September 2003 under the WarioWare Inc Minigame Mania title, a continental rename meant to dodge the dollar overtone of the American Microgame$ typography. That title based differentiation creates for the collector market a notable PAL and US duality. Nintendo Europe run was short, the European cardboard box is fragile, a PAL identified clean complete copy with intact manual holds a price distinct from the US version.
Better with friends
A deluge of zany microgames firing off at a breakneck pace, designed for solo play yet irresistible to pass around to see who lasts the longest. The fun is all social: the audience laughs as much as the person at the controls, and unpredictable flubs trigger instant fits of laughter. The chase for high scores sets up a good-natured rivalry, perfect to liven up a table in a flash.
Is WarioWare, Inc. - Minigame Mania still worth playing in 2026?
Made in Wario, also known as WarioWare Inc. in the West, invented a format that the whole industry would later copy, namely chains of microgames lasting a few seconds without pause around absurd themes. The pacing remains unbeatable, the humor proudly weird and the single cartridge multiplayer mode still works wonderfully today. Replayability mostly rests on the score chase and on the unlocking of bonus stages. A classic well worth recommending for short sessions, solo or in group, and a useful baseline for later WarioWare entries.
