A gorgeous yet brutally hard Enix RPG. Go in knowing you will suffer, because the atmosphere and soundtrack make the punishment worth it.

Description
Japanese version of Elnard RPG. Published by Asmik, released in 1993 in Japan. Turn-based combat, 30+ hours of play, fantasy scenario, 16-bit aesthetics. Japanese edition.
Original Japanese edition of the RPG known in the West as 7th Saga, here titled Elnard on Super Famicom. Its interest lies in that source-version status: balance and details differ from the American adaptation, making it a piece sought by purists of the Enix design. An SFC cardboard box with spine card and manual stays the prized configuration, while the cartridge alone offers a gentler route to this originating build.
Is Elnard still worth playing in 2026?
An RPG from Enix and Produce, this title is still remembered for its fearsome difficulty, the product of a heavy handed Western rebalancing. The choice of seven heroes and the radar map used to track enemies and rivals give the adventure a real personality. Progress demands patience and the grinding weighs on you, yet the bleak mood and the rivalry between apprentices keep their charm. One for fans of demanding RPGs and the curious exploring Enix's lesser known catalogue.
