The first entry moves anime robots from flat sprite to a 3D model you pilot in full flight. From Software renders each machine, Macross Valkyrie, Gundam mobile suit, L-Gaim mecha, with a faithful silhouette, then hurls it into open sky where it banks, boosts and locks its target in real time. Giving volume to these animation icons, restored at full speed, founds the series' visual identity.
The soundtrack rearranges the gathered series' themes as instrumentals. Wordless, each opening becomes battle music that swells the moment a robot triggers its signature attack, so that a few bars are enough to name Macross or Gundam. This purely orchestral choice, made for this first entry, lets the melody carry the tribute where the voice will come later.
The story invents a world where the gathered universes have merged, a pretext to bring together pilots that everything set apart. Far from a dense tactical plot, it mainly threads the improbable reunions of heroes from unrelated series, mustered into a single squadron. From Software lays here the light foundations of a crossover that favors action over drama and camaraderie over grand speeches.

Is Another Century's Episode still worth playing in 2026?
A mecha action game from Banpresto and FromSoftware, Another Century's Episode gathers robots from many animated series in high speed combat blending shooting and melee, on aerial and urban battlefields. The pleasure of the crossover, the sense of snappy piloting and the fidelity to the mechs win over fans of Japanese animation. The repetition of the missions and the Japan exclusivity weigh on it. A title for fans of mech games and animation robot crossovers.
