NES Metroid on GBA in the Classic NES series. The original remains labyrinthine and oppressive. Hard to revisit without a guide but the unique atmosphere is intact.

Is Classic NES Series - Metroid still worth playing in 2026?

A faithful re-release of the NES Metroid, this Classic NES Series offers the original exploration of planet Zebes by Samus Aran, with no map or modern help. The sense of solitude, the discovery of secret passages and the growth in power lay the genre's foundations, and their raw elegance stays fascinating. The lack of a map and password saving have aged poorly for comfort. An essential piece of history, best reserved for patient retro fans and the curious about Metroid's origins.
