Mana series action RPG with real-time combat gameplay and a living open world. The atmosphere is enchanting but repetitive combat and a temperamental camera hinder the experience. A minor Mana saga entry, aimed at die-hard fans.

Description
The first fully 3D entry in the Seiken Densetsu series, released by Square Enix in 2006. Hero Keldy explores a semi-open world and fights with whip and physics-based effects, though the controversial choice not to carry items between levels deeply split long-time fans.

Is Dawn of Mana still worth playing in 2026?

The fourth main entry in Square Enix's Mana series, Dawn of Mana moves the saga to full 3D with a physics based combat system where you use a whip to fling enemies and objects into the scenery. The lush look, the colourful art direction and the fairy tale mood stay a feast for the eyes. The progression reset at every chapter and a messy gameplay disappointed. A visual curiosity to recommend for series fans and lovers of experimental action RPGs.
