First F-Zero on GBA and already a strong promise. Snappy gameplay, quick to pick up, well-designed tracks. Slightly less rich than the later entries but solid.

Is F-Zero - Maximum Velocity still worth playing in 2026?

A GBA launch title, F-Zero Maximum Velocity masterfully transposes the series' pure speed to handheld, with five new pilots, twenty tracks and six championships without relying on the usual cast. The sense of sliding at very high speed and the demanding driving stay striking, and the legibility is exemplary for the machine. The difficulty climbs fast and the solo lacks a bit of variety. A technical showcase and an excellent arcade racer, still very satisfying for speed lovers.
