EA boxing game with fluid animations and realistic gameplay for the era. Hit physics and guard mechanics introduce welcome depth. Less complete than sequels but already promising. A solid starting point for the Fight Night franchise on PS2.

Description
A 2004 boxing game from EA Canada, the studio's first major run at the genre since Knockout Kings. The "Total Punch Control" system maps every punch type to the right stick, fundamentally reshaping how you read a fight. A rebuild that lays the groundwork for the entire Fight Night series.

Is Fight Night 2004 still worth playing in 2026?

An Electronic Arts boxing simulation, Fight Night 2004 leans on an analogue stick punch system of precision unprecedented at the time, conveying the weight of exchanges and the strategy of attrition. The rendering of impacts, the modelling of boxers and the career mode made it a genre reference at launch. The production shows its age and the absence of full licences is felt. A solid boxing game to recommend for fans of realistic combat sport and timing demanding duels.
