Square Enix mecha tactical RPG with turn-based combat in the world of Zaftra and Huffman. Wanzers are customisable and tactical depth is appreciable. Less accessible than other tactical RPGs but satisfying for genre and franchise fans.

Description
A Square Enix tactical-RPG released in 2003 (Japan) and 2004 (West), fully transitioned to 3D. Three interlocking storylines (USN, OCU, Zaftra) tell the same futuristic geopolitical conflict from different angles, with Wanzer mechs customized piece by piece. The peak of the classic Front Mission formula.

Is Front Mission 4 still worth playing in 2026?

A mech tactical RPG from Square Enix, Front Mission 4 extends the military saga with its wanzers, combat robots customised part by part before grid based turn battles. The depth of the customisation, the link system between units and the mature geopolitical narrative appeal to genre fans. The slow pace and the austere feel call for investment. A demanding mech tactical to recommend for fans of turn based strategy and deep customisation.
