Is Gekirindan still worth playing in 2026?

Gekirindan is a Taito vertical shoot'em up on a time-travel theme, in which you cross six historical eras with radically different settings, from the prehistoric past to the distant future. The visual variety of the eras, the snappy action and the imposing bosses make it a polished and exotic shmup, faithful to Taito's know-how. The classic flow and a high difficulty temper the originality. Kept exclusive to Japan, it will appeal to fans of retro vertical shmups and overlooked Taito gems, with a marked aesthetic.
