Namco TPS pioneering ground cover systems in video games. The cover-shooting mechanic influenced many later titles including Gears of War. Fluid gameplay and well-designed levels for the era. A historically significant title even if technically outdated today.

Is Kill Switch still worth playing in 2026?

A shooter from Namco, Kill Switch popularised the third person cover system, where you stick to scenery to take cover, return blind fire and advance under enemy fire in military environments. This mechanic, innovative at launch, deeply marked the cover shooter genre. The repetition of situations, a thin story and a dated production limit the current interest. A piece of history for fans of third person shooters and the curious about the origins of the cover system.
