Fourth Langrisser, considered by many as the series' peak. Refined systems, ambitious scenario, memorable characters. Highest production value in the series. An exceptional SRPG that alone justifies the Saturn.

Positioning your commanders and their troops, exploiting the weapon triangle and watching the story branch according to your choices weaves a turn-based tactic where each map calls for the next. Leveling up your units and aiming for another ending makes you start over. The maps grow longer, but the finesse of the system and the narrative branches hold your attention for a long time.

The fourth entry of the saga enriches the tactical formula with new scenarios, multiple endings and deepened unit management. Leading your commanders to victory and exploring every branch fills very long hours. That density, a jewel of the series, offers a longevity tactical-RPG fans appreciate over the long term.
Complete: box, manual and disc/cart very clean. Lightly handled.

Japan exclusive Saturn edition of Langrisser IV, distributed by Masaya in August 1997 with the 1M or 3M tag depending on the run, the fourth entry in the Masaya SRPG that opens a new continent and a political route based scenario system. Masaya Japan run was short, jewel case with intact obi, and the complexity of the map system together with the absence of Western localization make the JP Saturn version for Langrisser completists the only physical vehicle of the chapter. Complete with obi remains an identifiable landmark.
Is Langrisser IV still worth playing in 2026?
The fourth entry by Masaya, Langrisser IV offers a more mature tactical RPG adventure with dark scenario and refined class system. The sublime manga art direction, strategic depth and narrative richness make it a Langrisser saga peak on Saturn. Without official western translation, the title asks for Japanese notions. For anyone fond of mature Japanese tactical RPGs or continuing the Langrisser saga, a warm recommendation still valid today without any hesitation for genre fans truly here indeed for any patient fan now.
