tri-Ace deliver a very ambitious JRPG with multi-squad combat unions, inspired art direction and a sprawling world. The 360 version suffers a few slowdowns but the tactical depth stays superb and especially rewarding.

Built around sprawling battles that pit whole squads against each other, this Square Enix RPG eats the hours through its union system, its recruitable guilds and a world dotted with side quests. The map teems with rare beasts to hunt and weapons to forge, and its demanding rhythm invites long experimentation before mastery clicks. A raw kind of generosity that still earns it respect among fans of dense role-playing.

Last Remnant, The (Xbox 360) price, value & rarity
The American version of The Last Remnant, tri-Ace's JRPG with its battle-union system commanding several squads at once, in its NTSC pressing. The 360 version was long the only console to host the title, the PlayStation 3 port having been dropped in favour of a later PC release. Desirability rests on this status as the exclusive console version of a demanding Square Enix RPG and on demand from North American fans of the house.
