Legacy of Kain action-adventure with both Raziel and Kain playable. Raziel's narrative arc conclusion is satisfying. Combat improved over predecessors. The Soul Reaver saga at its best narrative level. A quality dark fantasy game.

Nosgoth is built in a late gothic pushed to excess: vaults too high, broken statues, colonnades vanishing into darkness. The shift to the spectral realm repaints the same place in twisted forms and phosphorescent blues, so every room exists in two versions, one being the distortion of the other.
Organ and choir carry the bulk, but played so slowly that the chords overlap and become masses rather than harmonies. Each of the two protagonists gets his own vocal register, low for one, tenser for the other, so a change of character is heard before it is seen on screen.
Finally bringing its two antiheroes together, this finale of a vampiric saga ties the threads of fate, free will and the curse of Nosgoth. Carried by dialogue of superb theatricality, the tale embraces an almost Shakespearean scope. Dense and grandiloquent, it concludes one of the most ambitious mythologies in video games.
Is Legacy of Kain - Defiance still worth playing in 2026?
An action adventure from Crystal Dynamics, Legacy of Kain Defiance concludes the gothic saga by alternating the vampires Kain and Raziel in a dense story carried by remarkable theatrical voice acting. The combo based combat system, the telekinetic powers and the spatial puzzles modernise the formula. The sometimes capricious fixed camera and back and forth date the whole. An excellent action adventure for fans of dark, mature stories and the faithful of the Legacy of Kain world.
