Fifth Mario Party that polishes the formula and beefs up the mini games. Better-shaped boards, still-hilarious local multiplayer and a respectable content load. No expected revolution but probably the best GameCube entry in the sub-series. Bring it to the party.

Collector interest

Fifth installment, refining the formula and introducing the Dream World mode and power capsules. Its collector interest joins that of the Mario Party line on GameCube, whose physical versions see their value climb markedly, with the added draw of this entry's own content that series completists want to own. The Japanese run, more discreet in the West, draws collectors aiming for the original edition in its language. Lasting demand from party-game fans sustains a steadily rising value for complete copies.

Is Mario Party 5 still worth playing in 2026?

The fifth entry in the party series, Mario Party 5 refreshes the minigame lineup and adds the Dream World mode and capsules you place on the board to trap rivals. The formula stays familiar, but the capsules add a welcome layer of strategy. Solo remains anecdotal and the step up from the previous entry is measured. A pleasant party game in multiplayer, especially for fans of the series after varied evenings without a major revolution.
