Direct sequel that widens the tuning palette and opens a freer world. More modes, smarter drift and drag and a soundtrack still on point. Not yet Most Wanted but clearly more complete than the first Underground. A solid year for fans.

Is Need for Speed - Underground 2 still worth playing in 2026?
Underground 2 remains a high point of the genre's tuning branch. Its nocturnal open world, sprawling customisation and neon mood defined an era and still carry real character. The arcade handling stays exhilarating, and roaming the city grants a freedom menu-based racers lacked. Some of the wandering mechanics have aged, but the energy is intact. For street-racing fans it is well worth a return even today.
