Hideo Kojima transplants American crime-film imagery into a space colony: angular silhouettes inherited from eighties Japanese animation, orbital station sets in cold tones, and cinematic framing that cuts every scene like a storyboard. The still portraits gain presence from heavily worked shadows, and the whole thing owns its kinship with buddy movies.
Synth pads, a nocturnal saxophone and dry percussion set up an urban thriller mood even in orbit. The investigation themes stay in the background, almost whispered, until the shooting sequences bring nervous rhythms to the surface. That contrast between hushed calm and sudden tension carries an adventure where everything essential happens in dialogue.
Setting out to investigate the disappearance of his ex-wife in a space colony, a former policeman unearths a plot tangling drugs, grief and betrayal.
