Samurai Shodown III on Saturn, darker and more technical episode. New rage and deflection mechanics enrich the gameplay. One of the best SNK ports on the console. Recommended for samurai versus fighting fans.

Japan exclusive Saturn edition of Samurai Spirits Zankurou Musouken, distributed by SNK in November 1996, a Samurai Shodown III conversion that also relies on the 1 MB RAM expansion cartridge. SNK Japan run was short, jewel case with intact obi and dedicated 1 MB cart, and the Samurai III position in the transition between the classic formula and the Amakusa Kourin evolution makes it for SNK completists an identifiable landmark. Complete with obi clearly valued.
Better with friends
Sword duels of rare harshness where the slightest opening turns into a devastating gash, in a competition all about contained tension. Reading the guard, judging your spacing and striking at the exact moment trump a flurry of blows, which pleasantly shifts the pace. Sharp for newcomers, it offers the initiated clashes of cutting intensity and lasting rivalries.
Is Samurai Spirits - Zankurou Musouken still worth playing in 2026?
The third entry of the SNK saga, Samurai Spirits Zankurou Musouken offers samurai sword duels with new character Zankuro and Bust and Slash system. The sublime Japanese art direction, technical handling and strategic depth make it an excellent weapon versus reference on Saturn. The RAM cartridge improves Neo Geo faithfulness. For anyone fond of Samurai Shodown or seeking a historical SNK entry, a warm recommendation still valid today without any hesitation on the Sega machine truly here indeed for any returning fan.
