Collector interest

The close of Namco's trilogy, Splatterhouse 3 is exclusive to the North American Genesis, concentrating all of the series' demand on Sega's 16-bit machine. Its unapologetic violence earned it a cult reputation, and a limited NTSC print run has pushed complete values to high levels. Interest rests on that exclusivity, on the horror aura of Rick's mask, and on the growing scarcity of complete copies in the US cardboard box.

A questionable morality

To save his girlfriend, the hero agrees to don an evil mask that multiplies his strength in exchange for a certain say over his mind, then sets off to pulp hordes of creatures across hemoglobin-soaked sets. Love justifies everything, it seems, even a shady pact with a possessed artifact and a pronounced taste for carnage, owned without a flinch.

Is Splatterhouse 3 still worth playing in 2026?

The third entry in Namco's horror beat-em-up, Splatterhouse 3 sends Rick, cursed mask on his face, to save his family in a creature-infested mansion, with an open structure and branches based on elapsed time. The unabashed gore, the transformation system and the tension of the race against the clock give it real personality. The presentation and handling have aged. A choice curiosity for fans of retro beat-em-ups and 1990s horror.
