Facing the Oni for the first time in this series sets up a co-op hunting loop where you track, fell and purify colossal demons. Upgrading your weapons, completing the missions and farming rare materials fills long hours. That generosity, the founder of Toukiden, offers a lifespan action-RPG fans cultivate.
Complete: box, manual and disc/cart very clean. Lightly handled.

Collector interest
The Japanese edition of Toukiden, a Koei Tecmo cooperative hunt where warriors purify demons drawn from Japanese folklore, designed to rival the genre's heavyweights on the handheld. Its appeal lies in this native-version status of a local success and a measured run, prized by fans of team hunting wanting the original edition. A piece for collectors of the genre in Japan.
Memorable bosses
Inspired by the great hunts, this adventure pits the Mononofu against titanic Oni straight out of Japanese folklore. The purification mechanic lets you tear off and destroy each limb separately, altering the beast's behavior mid-fight. A polished mythological design, the sheer scale of the creatures and tense co-op hunts give these clashes a flavor at once grand and tactical.
Better with friends
Cooperative hunting for up to four where you bring down immense demons by severing their limbs and sealing their souls together. Mutual aid structures every hunt: assigning targets, purifying fallen spirits and coordinating the final assault makes all the difference. Assembling a squad needs locally linked consoles, but the shared epic against these colossi brings a galvanizing common pride.
Is Toukiden still worth playing in 2026?
Toukiden offers Oni hunters protecting their village against colossal demons, in a Monster Hunter-inspired formula with its own identity. Tecmo Koei polishes the Mitama of former heroes to equip on weapons, and ad hoc co-op works very well. Japan-only originally. The Japanese mythology-inspired art direction is particularly successful. An excellent portable pick today.
