Crash leaves Naughty Dog and lands at Traveller's Tales. Decent platforming but no spark, tidy levels and a mascot who's lost his bite. For diehard fans or kids meeting him fresh. Miles below the PlayStation trilogy.

Is Crash Bandicoot - The Wrath of Cortex still worth playing in 2026?

The first Crash Bandicoot of the generation, The Wrath of Cortex faithfully reprises the formula of the PlayStation entries, with linear levels packed with crates to smash, Wumpa fruit and vehicle sections. The result is competent and colorful, but terribly conventional, without the bite or freshness of the best Crash games, and it suffers from painful loading times. For fans of the marsupial and lovers of old school platforming, it offers a familiar, accessible adventure, pleasant out of nostalgia more than daring.
