Collector interest

Last portable F-Zero, kept Japan only, developed by Suzak with a built in track editor mode, a feature missing from the other F-Zero entries in the catalogue. That regional exclusivity coupled with Nintendo's complete halt of the franchise until F-Zero 99 makes it the physical end point of the series for anyone mapping it without emulator help. Nintendo rigid case with a dedicated Japanese obi, modest run, complete with obi sought after.

An underrated gem

The last F-Zero ever released, this Japanese entry reunites the GX roster and adds a track editor as rare as it is generous. Confined to the home islands late in the console's life, it never reached the West. For fans of pure speed and demanding handling, it's an overlooked farewell gift well worth importing or emulating.

Is F-Zero - Climax still worth playing in 2026?

Never released outside Japan, F-Zero Climax wraps the GBA trilogy of the series by concentrating its best ideas. The track design is more demanding than before, the sense of speed remains remarkable despite the pseudo 3D, and the integrated track editor provides lasting replay value. For completionists and fans of pure futuristic racing, this is an essential piece in tracing the late embers of Nintendo arcade. The language barrier stays modest, and a fan translation exists to ease access to the surrounding content.
