Goemon 2 (Mystical Ninja in the West), even crazier with giant robots and offbeat humor. A peak of Konami inventiveness.

Description
Sequel to Ganbare Goemon with Goemon and Ebisumaru facing General McGuiness. Published by Konami, released in Japan in 1993. More varied levels in fantastical medieval Japan, enriched absurd gadgets, amplified humor and new boss general and arranged folk music. Second series entry on Super Famicom, often cited as the finest.

Collector interest

The second Super Famicom Goemon by Konami in 1993, Japan-exclusive, the only one offering a co-op multiplayer mode unprecedented in the 16-bit line. The cart is culturally important as the fun and eccentric peak of SFC Goemon, and its modest print makes it a difficult collectible. Intact boxed CIB with cardboard sleeve and illustrated Konami manual is valued by Goemon collectors, and the cote climbs hard.

Is Ganbare Goemon 2 - Kiteretsu Shougun McGuiness still worth playing in 2026?

Ganbare Goemon 2 - Kiteretsu Shougun McGuiness pushes the absurdity further, with signature giant mecha sections, hops between short platformers and lively villages, and frankly more slapstick humor. The two player co op still works wonderfully, the pace picks up compared with the first installment and the 16 bit staging gains confidence. Never released outside Japan, the game has a fan translation. Recommended to Goemon fans and to lovers of Konami action comedy.
