Big Huge Games orchestrate a vibrant action RPG with an R.A. Salvatore world, joyful combat and rare class freedom. Amalur plays like a high-end solo MMO and its tragic fate remains one of Western RPG's biggest regrets.

The faery lands justify an impossible vegetation: mushrooms as tall as houses, luminous flowers lighting the undergrowth, trees with blue trunks and purple foliage. Each region of the world thus gets an entire range rather than a shade, acid green marsh, golden plains, turquoise forests, so crossing a border literally changes the color of the screen.

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning, the French titling of Big Huge Games' action RPG with a colorful world and dynamic combat, crafted with renowned fantasy authors but a critical rather than commercial success after its publisher's fall. Its desirability rests on this status as an orphaned gem and a niche demand rather than scarcity. An interesting piece for action-RPG fans of the console.
Is Royaumes D'Amalur, Les - Reckoning still worth playing in 2026?
Known as Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning and released in 2012 on Xbox 360, this action role playing game by Big Huge Games and 38 Studios charms with a combat system exceptionally nervy and fluid for the genre, blending dodges, magic and stylish combos. The vast fantasy world, imagined with author R.A. Salvatore and artist Todd McFarlane, and the freedom of class customisation enrich the adventure. The pace and the side quests can feel diluted. But the combat pleasure stays rare in a role playing game. For fans of action role playing and generous fantasy, this title keeps a strong appeal today.
