Collector interest

A 1996 Data East Super Famicom puzzle-action, Japan-exclusive, sequel to Magical Drop with a particularly snappy coloured-bubble pulling system. The cart is culturally important as Data East's peak in competitive SFC puzzling, and its modest end-of-cycle print makes it an identified collectible. Intact boxed CIB with cardboard sleeve and illustrated Data East manual is valued by SFC puzzle collectors, and the cote climbs hard.

Is Magical Drop 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Magical Drop 2 is a competitive puzzler by Data East with a very particular formula, namely catching colored balls hanging below the cursor and tossing them back to form chains. The pace is extremely brisk, faster than most rivals of the genre. The roster leans on tarot folklore and the local versus co op works very well. A good entry point to the series for anyone who only knew the arcade. Recommended to fans of fast versus puzzling and to lovers of Data East at its peak.
